Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving process that students can learn in CPR or basic life support (BLS) classes. The techniques comprise chest compressions and rescue breaths and proper application can restore the life of a victim involved in a cardiac emergency. A cardiac arrest or heart attack victim would require immediate treatment for survival and the most appropriate treatment in this regard is proper application of the life-saving resuscitation procedures.
Being a resident of Indianapolis, you can sign up for a program at the AHA certified CPR Indianapolis which consists of some of the most certified instructors. Courses for both healthcare providers and for individuals with no medical background are conducted at the training site. Our discussion today will center on a “BLS for healthcare providers Indianapolis” which is a program designed for first-time healthcare providers and medical students.

The first time Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Class, a.k.a. BLS Class, is geared towards training individuals currently working in healthcare or planning a career in healthcare. In the first time BLS class, students will learn adult, child, and infant CPR. Students will also be trained on the use of an automated external defibrillator, or AED. Because this CPR class is for healthcare providers, there will be added training on how to use and perform rescue breaths using a bag valve mask. This device is found in hospitals, offices, and many other healthcare facilities. The BLS class training concludes with time dedicated to learning how to rescue choking infants, children, and adults. CPR Indianapolis allows students plenty of hands on practice and time to master the skills of BLS for Healthcare Providers.
CPR Training for Adults
Most cardiac emergencies occur out of the hospitals and most victims die during such cases due to lack of treatment in the hands of bystanders which makes it imperative on the part of every individual to be CPR trained.
CPR training will show you how to position a person to perform chest compressions and you’ll learn the exact process for properly administering the technique, including the amount of time you must perform rescue measures. The CPR administration process has to be modified somewhat for children (ages 1-8). In CPR classes, you’ll learn the variations in chest compressions and AED use. There may also be differences in the amount of time you have to administer these techniques.
AED training will also be imparted in the CPR classes which involves application of an electric shock to the chest of victim with an AED device which can stabilize the condition of a victim by normalizing the heart rhythm that was the cause of the cardiac arrest.
