CPR Classes and their Significance for Cardiac Arrest Victims in Indianapolis



CPR techniques are referred to as the life-saving techniques that comprise chest compressions and rescue breaths. Proper application of the techniques can restore the life of a cardiac arrest or heart attack victim. No one can predict the occurrence of a sudden cardiac arrest which can strike anyone, all of a sudden. The victim can be anyone, regardless of his or her age. You cannot predict it but at the very best stay prepared in dealing with such emergencies. Learning the CPR techniques is the solution in this regard.

Getting the CPR Certification- CPR certification takes just a few short hours but can help you add years to someone's life. Successful completion of an in-person or blended learning course gives you a two-year certification in adult and/or pediatric CPR.

Online CPR Classes- AHA conducts online CPR classes as well which one can take as per their convenience. A student would just have to appear for a skills test by visiting an AHA accredited training site after the completion of the classes. Remember, no CPR course is complete without the conduction of a skills test. 

CPR Renewal Classes- If you've already been through the AHA CPR training but need to renew your certification, you can do so in an abbreviated class designed to refresh your skills and test your knowledge.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can help save a life during a cardiac or breathing emergency. However, even after training, remembering the CPR steps and administering them correctly can be a challenge. Here are a few steps that can be helpful for you:
        I.            Check the scene for safety, check for the responsiveness of the victim by tapping on his or her shoulder.

      II.            Call 911 for Emergency Medical Services. Look for an AED device. Don’t leave the patient alone while doing so.

    III.            Open the airway. With the person lying on his or her back, tilt the head back slightly to lift the chin.
    IV.            Check for breathing, if there is no breathing begin CPR.

      V.            Administer chest compressions that are at least 2 inches deep and delivered at a rate of at least 100 compressions per minute.

    VI.            Deliver two rescue breaths, followed by compressions.

  VII.            Continue the CPR steps and keep performing cycles of chest compressions and breathing until the person exhibits signs of life, such as breathing, an AED becomes available, or EMS or a trained medical responder arrives on scene.
