Heart and the Circulatory System and AHA BLS Classes in Indianapolis

BLS Training Classes- Basic Life Support (BLS) is the CPR course required for Students in Healthcare and Medical Related Programs. This class is American Heart Association certified, and satisfies all CPR requirements for nursing school, medical school, dental school, pharmacy school and all other healthcare related school programs in Indianapolis. This course teaches Basic Life Support for infants, adults, and children.


In this class you will learn how to perform the following in emergency situations for infants, adults, and children:

      II.            Proper Chest Compressions
    III.            Rescue Breathing
    IV.            Automated External Defibrillators Training
      V.            Choking intervention

Heart and the Circulatory System:
Heart is the most important organ in the body which circulates blood throughout the body by the support of the blood vessels, which serve as the conduits. These blood vessels together make up the circulatory system. With the heart as the main pumping organ, these structures as a whole, form the cardiovascular system.

The cardiovascular system is composed of the heart, a muscular organ that pumps blood, and the blood vessels, which distribute (arteries) and collect (veins) from the different organs of the body. The heart is responsible for continually moving blood throughout the body. When active, your body needs more nutrients, so your heart beats faster. When at rest, your body needs less, so the heart pumps more slowly.

The circulatory system is composed of two subsystems, which work in synchrony to support body function. The blood vessels that distribute and collect blood from most of the body comprise the systemic portion of the circulatory system. Within this system is a subsystem that distributes and collects blood from the lungs, and into the heart, which comprise the pulmonary portion of the circulatory system.

Healthy Circulatory System:
1.                  Performing some form of exercise on a regular basis can prove to be highly beneficial for your heart. Exercises can range from swimming, cycling, running to just a mere walking for a few minutes on a regular basis.
2.                  Eating healthy can also prove to be beneficial for you.
3.                  Check-ups with doctors can be beneficial as well. A doctor will help you in making an assessment of your risk for a heart disease or other heart-related emergencies.
